Things are definitely not looking good for rapper Remy Ma as she was recently found guilty on two counts of first-degree assault, attempted coercion, and criminal possession of a weapon.
The charges stem from a 2007 incident in which Remy shot a friend of hers after a fight over $3,000 in cash stolen from Remy’s purse. The defense tried to make the shooting an accident — but it looks like they didn’t quite convince the jury.
Remy was not found guilty of gang assault and witness tampering, among the nine total charges she faced. We’re told the victim’s friends and family taunted Remy when the verdicts were read — full pandemonium in the courtroom.
Remy could face up from five to 25 years in prison at sentencing.
Boxer Laila Ali will be taking a break from her day job for a while. She and her husband, former NFL star Curtis Conway, are expecting their first baby. Laila’s father is former World boxing champ Muhammad Ali and she followed in his footsteps. Boy or girl, this baby is going to have to be rough.
“I don’t know yet if we are having a boy or a girl, but I’m excited that I have a life inside me that my husband and I created,” Ali says in the May issue, which hits newsstands April 11.
The boxing champ, who co-hosts American Gladiators, and Conway married last July in the rose garden of the Ritz-Carlton in Marina del Rey, Calif.
Among the 200 guests were Laila’s parents, Muhammad Ali and Veronica Porsche Anderson, along with her sister Hana Ali, who was a bridesmaid.
This is the first child for Ali and the fourth for Conway, who has twin sons, Kelton and Cameron, 13, and a daughter Leilani, 9.
“I am 100 percent undeniably happy,” Ali tells ESSENCE. “I’ve never been able to say that before.”
Ali, 30, and Conway, 37, met at his house, when he hosted a small get-together, which Ali attended with a friend. The pair became engaged on Thanksgiving 2006.
Shortly after their wedding, Ali told PEOPLE that married life was “excellent.”
“My husband and I are best friends,” she said. “We have great communication and we respect each other.”

Our on-set source said Foster was upset when she found out stunning singer/songwriter Keri Hilson was personally picked by Usher to play his love interest in the video.
Tameka is very insecure,†our source said. “Even in rehearsals she was weird and clearly not happy that Keri is so gorgeous. Tameka threw a lot of attitude. The day of the shoot, Tameka dressed Keri very badly - she looked like an extra. Tameka wouldn’t let Keri have her hairdresser there - she had to use the hairdresser who was doing the extras.â€
