Eddie Murphy to star as Richard Pryor in comedian’s biopic!

He’s gonna do a good job because Eddie is a good actor and he’s Richard Pryor impersonations be the shit.

Its cool considering Richard Pryor was his idol but i dunno if today’s Eddie can pull it off. Young Eddie from the early 90’s late 80s era could do it most def. But post-divorce, tabloid cover-hopping, one B-movie-after-the-next starring modern-day Murphy might have some serious soul-searching. No one could ever out-funny the Raw and Delirious series’ stand-ups. hmmm… i’m keeping an eye out for this one.

Man yeah thats gone be funny as hell,can’t wait to see this.

WTF?!? UMM…I THOUGHT MIKE EPPS WAS SUPPOSED TO PLAY RICHARD PRYOR!!! Mike had a chance to be coached by Richard Pryor and everything, I think he would have been a MUCH better Richard Pryor real talk…Eddie Murphy just need more money to cover his child support–he’s a good comedian, but playing Richard Pryor, I don’t think so boo:-(

I really hope that Eddie has it in him to do it right. All that Richard Pryor, has done eddie and all those who have follow. I know it was his dream to preform with Richard. Which he did, so I believe he will be able to do it. Mike Epps would have been all right, but I am not sure he would have been good. I hope all the kywags will not be to hard on Eddie if he does not play the part perfect……

I think Eddie could do it my only thing is the physicality. He doesn’t look like Richard. Hopefully they figure that part out and I will agree with #4 he will have to some diggin to really get gully on dem hos.

This flick has some MAJOR potention to be GREAT. I think Eddie CAN do well, but I think physically AND comedically MIKE EPPS would be a more current refference, and would DEFINITELY be FUNNY AS HELL. U got it BUNZ. We’ll see. Whoever plays RICHARD, I hope they do it right, cause I can’t wait to find out-TOn

i read an article about it after Richard Pryor died. They (Pryor and his wife) were in the process of making his movie when Mike ate dinner at their house–that’s when they told him that he would play the best Pryor since he’s just as raw as Pryor was. Mike even talked about his drug problems in the article too and how it was an honor to meet him.

That was a long time ago though and Ive currently checked up on it–Mike Epps pulled out of the role after reading the script. He didn’t agree with the way they were going to portray Pryor and he didn’t want any parts of the script after that. I don’t know about this one, like I said, Eddie Murphy’s a legend too, but not really raw like Pryor and Epps. Eddie’s more bubbly and “marketable” with the potential to cross over to a broader audience than Epps could, which is probably why they settled with Murphy.

Based on this information alone makes me reluctant to watch the movie–although I would like to pay homage to Pryor and the legacy he left behind.

Eddie is surely funny enough, but I don’t know about looks. Yall remember HARLEM NIGHTS though? That’s my shit

I think Eddie could pull it off. I dont know though. If epps pulled out because of the script, that makes me wonder. But yes Eddie is just as raw as Mr Pryor….Eddie’s stand up aint no joke…I think it will be good to see Eddie goin back to the Raw/Delirious days.

But I’m sure this movie will be a good mix of comedy and drama. Its the story of Pryor’s life. So I wouldnt expect it to be a complete comedy. That would kill it. And in that sense, I dont see Epps in a serious role.

IDK, i could be wrong…I though Will Smith was gonna flop as Ali. And thats one of my fav flicks. And I though Jaime Foxx couldnt pull off Ray and well…lol

So I’ll just wait and see what happens..lol
