Entrepreneur, Sean “Diddy” Combs, will be receiving a star on the world famous Hollywood Walk of Fame this Friday. He will join the likes of legends such as Marilyn Monroe, Ray Charles, Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, Michael Jackson, the list goes on.
Now some of you are probably shaking your heads and asking yourselves, “how in the hell??” You are not alone! This morning on the Los Angeles based hip-hop radio station, Power 106, Diddy came in to chat with the folks over at Big Boys Neighborhood Morning Show (shot-out to Big Boy, Lucious Liz, & Tattoo). Big Boy shamelessly pops the question, “Now how did YOU get a star on the Walk of Fame?!” Diddy’s response was just as tongue-in-cheek, “I asked myself the same question!” In all seriousness though, Diddy received his star due to his contribution to entertainment, media, and fashion.
Let’s recap shall we: Diddy is a rapper (I didn’t say he was good), has released number one albums, is the founder of Bad Boy, has his own successful clothing line, has a top selling fragrance, has been in movies, has executive produced television shows, has his own vodka, and has even had a lead role on Broadway. I’m sure a few accomplishments have been left out, but this is an article, not a novel! He told the morning show that he hopes this will open the doors for others in hip-hop to be recognized on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
It’s no secret that Diddy has gone through more name changes than anyone in Hollywood, so when Big Boy’s Neighborhood asked him what name will be displayed on the star, the hip-hop mogul responded, “My momma already got on me about his one! It’s gonna say Sean ‘Diddy’
Combs.” In addition, for those of you who have never actually seen the Walk of Fame, it stretches 10 blocks on Hollywood Blvd with the most viewed block on Hollywood and Highland, where the Mann’s Chinese Theatre is located. So where will Diddy have his star? “They gave me beach front property! I’m right in front of the Mann’s Chinese Theatre.” It seems that Diddy has received enough clout from his peers as he is receiving a plot in a very respectable part of the strip.
If you are in the Los Angeles area, you can watch the induction ceremony this Friday, May 2nd, on Hollywood and Highland at 11am. Get there early because I imagine it will be packed! Congratulations Diddy!
